General Operative - Gatwick

General Operatives work as part of our Operations Team and provide a range of hands on logistics and site support services to our customers on prestigious construction and logistics projects. Operatives typically undertake a variety of site support and facilitation tasks. Key Responsibilities

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Provide site support.  Areas of activity include:

  • Moving plant and materials around site
  • General Labouring
  • Taking delivery of plant and materials
  • Proactively helping to maintain a clean and tidy site
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools to undertake general builders works
  • Removing debris from site
  • Assisting Tradespersons
  • Concreting
  • Concrete Drilling
  • Assisting in the erection of hoardings
  • Other duties as directed by relevant Line Manager
  • Communicating directly with the customers  and representing Amalga in a professional manner
  • Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures and practices
  • To work as part of a team or on own initiative
  • Other tasks as required

Specific Requirements

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, Behaviours

  • Applicants must hold a CSCS car
  • Experience of general site support and/or working in the construction industry (desirable)
  • Experience of working in restricted areas (desirable)
  • Understanding of construction site methods and processes (desirable)
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety issues
  • A professional attitude and approach to work
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual or within a team
  • Reliable and punctual

  • Valid passport or photo driving license with counterpart as proof of identification
  • Verifiable five year work history to include employment, unemployment, self employment, and scholastic periods
